Discover more about the SDAC - We are here to help.
Surrey Drug and Alcohol Care Limited (SDAC) is a registered charity founded in 1986. We offer a Helpline open to callers, Monday to Friday, from 9am to 9pm. We help and support anyone who is concerned about the problems that drugs, alcohol or mental well-being cause. We support those with problems or their parents, siblings or friends. Whatever you are going through, we can help.
In addition, for residents within the Surrey County Council area, we can refer you directly to professional treatment services for drugs or alcohol.
SDAC has a Telephone Counselling Service (TCS), which is a professional team of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Registered Counsellors. The service is free of charge. A new service, Telephone Bootcamp, is available for intensive treatment of drug and alcohol
We have an Outreach program for community groups offering interactive education about substance misuse.
On average, SDAC takes between 1,000 – 1,500 calls to its Helpline each year, a majority being from the Surrey area, but in practice, SDAC is open to anyone, anywhere in the country.
SDAC is a charity and limited company managed by a Board of Trustees and Associate Directors. The Helpline is manned by fully trained volunteers. The funding received by SDAC covers the costs of Trainers, a Helpline Coordinator, TCS, Outreach expenses and Marketing and Publicity for the charity and its service.
Funding
The majority of SDAC’s Helpline funding is granted by Commissioning at Public Health, Surrey County Council. Our Telephone Counselling have also received awards from corporate donors, borough council’s, lotteries and personal donations. SDAC also raises funds through community fundraising activities.
The Helplines Partnership
Surrey Drug and Alcohol Care Ltd is a member of Helplines Partnership – the membership body for organisations that provide helpline services in the UK and internationally. SDAC confirms it meets the Terms and Conditions of membership.
